A new bridal shop which will sell new and once-used dresses is set to open this Saturday (June 23) in Wellingborough.

Something Borrowed Bridal will be based at 6 Park Road in the town.

Amanda Blakey, who will be running the shop, said: “It’s like a dress agency, I’m recycling wedding dresses. It’s once-worn, good quality wedding dresses but mixed up with that we have also got some brand new designer wedding dresses, as well as bridesmaid dresses, tiaras, veils and that sort of thing.”

Mrs Blakey said she had come up with the idea for the shop after she had tried to sell her wedding dress on the online auction website eBay.

She said an alterations service was based in the same building as Something Borrowed Bridal and would be on-hand to make alterations to dresses.

Mrs Blakey said: “We have dresses ranging from £40 for bridal gowns all the way up to £2,000 and in sizes 8 to 26.

“We also have bridesmaid dresses ranging from £40 to £240 for children and adults, and flower girl dresses from age three.”

On the opening day on Saturday (June 23) the shop will open from 11am to 4pm and people will be able to enter a competition to win a tiara. There will also be 10 per cent off any dress bought on the day.
