A new £1.5m housing development has opened in the village of Little Harrowden.

Thanks to Wellingborough Homes and local developer Watson & Cox, the Meadowlands development on the site of a former supported living scheme brings 16 new homes, including eight houses, two bungalows, four flats and two maisonettes to the village.

Completed earlier this month, the development took two years in the planning and construction and came in on time and within budget.

Under a local lettings policy agreed with Wellingborough Council, several of the affordable rented homes have been let to people looking for houses with family living in the village.

Tim Davy, chairman of Wellingborough Homes, said: “This is a high quality development in a very nice location that’s been well received by local people.

“The supported living scheme had become outdated and short of amenities so, with a growing number of vacancies and falling demand in this area, the decision was taken to demolish it to make way for these very welcome new homes.”

Darren Wallace, construction director at Watson & Cox, said: “We were very pleased to work so closely with Wellingborough Homes to establish a team that has delivered social homes that are good quality, very pleasant to both live in and look at and are much needed in the area.”
