THE Wildlife Trust will hold a public meeting in East Northamptonshire next month.
The event will take place at the Albert Underwood Room at St Peter’s Church in Irthlingborough and will give people the chance to hear about plans to create a new nature reserve at Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows.
It will involve an area of wetland habitat larger than 100 football pitches.
The project will help form a chain of nature reserves stretching 7km along the Nene Valley and the project will cost more than £1.2m.
So far the the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire has received a grant of £889,300 from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards the project.
It is hoping residents will help out by donating to the project and a public appeal will be launched in June.
The meeting will take place from 6pm on Wednesday, May 23. For details visit www.wildlifebcn.org.
