Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision near Wellingborough which left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

The collision took place at around 11am on Saturday, June 30, and involved a blue Vauxhall Astra being driven by a 38-year-old man and a white MV Agusta motorbike being driven by a 47-year-old man.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire police said: “The motorcyclist was travelling from Irthlingborough to Wellingborough when, for reasons yet unknown, he lost control of his machine and was in collision with the Astra which was travelling in the opposite direction.

“The occupants of the Astra were uninjured but the rider of the motorcycle was airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident.”

The incident took place on the B571, Irthlingborough Road, about 500 metres from the junction of Sidegate Lane, near Wellingborough.
