A charity event organised by a salon in Rothwell has raised more than £8,000 for Kettering General Hospital.

Dozens of people took part in the walk, jog, run or cycle around Pitsford Water in July organised by John Newman’s.

A total of £8,241.86 was raised from the event. Of that, £2,100 is for the opthalmology department, £1,700 for the cardiac fund, £1,600 for the stroke fund and £1,100 for the colorectal fund. Two other charity funds will also benefit.

Shirley Newman said: “Thank you to all our participants, sponsors and donors and the staff at Kettering General Hospital for all the excellent care and compassion they provide.”
