The popular Kettering by the Sea event is to return to the town centre in July as part of a programme of summer events.

A large sandy beach will be recreated in the Market Place between Thursday, July 24, and Saturday, August 16.

Alongside the beach, Kettering Council has organised a number of free activities.

These include displays by West Lodge Farm Park and interactive experiments by London Science Museum and beach volleyball competitions.

There will also be pantomime shows three times a week, Punch and Judy shows and arts and crafts and in August, the council says it is hoping that 20 shops will be taking part in a large fashion show in the town centre.

A large screen will also be in the Market Place, broadcasting events including the forthcoming Wimbledon tennis championships.

Kettering by the Sea will be open from 10am to 4pm every day, except Sundays.

The council says parking fees may be lifted on some Fridays in the summer, although details are yet to be confirmed.
