Cyclists using Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough railway stations will benefit from better facilities.

The Department of Transport is investing £1.4m across the East Midlands Trains network in improving facilities for cyclists, including more bike racks.

The funding will be spent on additional cycle spaces, a protective cover for cycles and CCTV security at stations including Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough.

Area station manager, Leicestershire, David Oldershaw, said: “This is fantastic news for cyclists using our network.

“Over the past 18 months we have installed more spaces than ever before and this trend is set to continue with this investment.

“More than £1.4m will be invested in facilities at 15 stations providing over 1,000 more spaces for cyclists.

“Good cycle facilities are vital for people choosing to travel to our stations by bike.

“This investment means that even more passengers will be able to cycle to our stations with confidence that their bikes will be safe, secure and protected until they return.”
