Drivers were held up when a lorry carrying part of a mobile home shed its load on the road into Cottingham last night (Monday, September 17).
The accident happened at about 6pm and motorists were forced to take alternative routes into and out of the village.
A spokesman for the police said the force only received one call about the incident.
Jim Wade, who lives in Corby, was on his way to Cottingham for a meal when he was stopped in his tracks by the section of mobile home in the road.
He said: “I was driving down the road and it was a bit of a surprise to see part of a house blocking the way. The lorry was parked further up the road near the golf driving range.
“Drivers were turning round and going back up the hill, as I did.
“I don’t know how long it took to move it, as I avoided that road on the way home.”
