A Mexican restaurant chain has signed a deal to open a new eatery in Kettering’s Market Place.
Chimichanga will be in the Market Place buildings next to Prezzo.
Kettering Council said the signing of the deal means the Market Place buildings, part of Kettering town centre’s ongoing rejuvenation programme, are now fully occupied.
Chimichanga aims to provide a family-friendly and fun environment.
Chimichanga operations director Peter Morrison said: “We are looking forward to opening our restaurant within Kettering’s Market Place.
“We believe Chimichanga will appeal to people of all ages and be a great asset to the town’s social scene.”
Cllr Derek Zanger, Kettering Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “I am delighted another major restaurant brand is coming to Kettering.
“The investment is a clear signal of the prospects for both the town and its surrounding area.
“Kettering is great place to visit, relax and do business in and it’s about to get even better.”
Kettering Council’s economic regeneration manager Alex Jelley added; “A Mexican restaurant will add to the variety of foods on offer in the town and Chimichanga has a reputation for providing a family friendly and fun environment with good quality food.”
Susan Harrison of SPACE Retail Property Consultants said: “We are delighted with this news and have worked hard to provide Kettering Council advice and assistance in letting this unit to a first class restaurateur.
“This news shows that Kettering is continuing to attract high quality investment and we expect this trend to continue.”
Interior work is expected to start in the next few weeks with an expected completion date late summer or early autumn this year.
