A community group is launching a volunteer centre at the end of the month as it aims to provide the ‘lifeblood’ to charities.

Nene Valley Community Action, in Rushden, hopes the centre will work as a matchmaker between potential volunteers and charities and organisations.

Chief executive officer Rosemary Hadaway said they have more than 200 opportunities and these volunteers will provide the lifeblood to a large number of charities in Rushden and East Northants.

She added: “The centre will mean people can pop in and see what is available, with no pressure. We are always looking for volunteers.

“If they want to volunteer we can make sure they get paired up with the right role.”

The centre in West Street will open its doors for the first time on January 29.
