Young musicians in Corby will have the chance to attend two masterclasses at The Core theatre, led by top contemporary jazz artists.
The New Sound Sessions will start with clarinet player Arun Ghosh on Saturday, September 14, from 2pm until 6pm, followed by composer and saxophonist Jason Yarde who will be conducting his masterclass on Monday, September 28, from 5pm until 9pm.
Arun is inviting confident young musicians of all styles to collaborate on new music to be performed when he brings his quintet, featuring the MOBO award-winning pianist Zoe Rahman, to The Core on Friday, October 4.
Jason, an arranger and producer, as well as a musician, bridges genres including progressive jazz, classical, hip-hop, free improvisation, R&B, reggae and soul.
He hopes to see a broad range of music brought together at his workshop, which will then be performed when he returns to The Core for a show on Friday, December 13.
Each masterclass costs £5, and musicians are expected to commit to three further rehearsals before their performance at The Core.
The sessions are recommended for musicians aged 13 and over.
