A WOMAN whose two grandfathers both suffered from prostate cancer hopes to raise awareness about the illness.
Charlie Chambers, 27, of Hertford Road, Kettering, will run the London Marathon on April 22 to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
One of her grandfathers died in 2010 from prostate cancer but the other was saved after doctors diagnosed it early.
She said: “When we lost my grandfather it was a shock for us all as the cancer was not caught early.
“With my other grandfather it was caught early and it was treatable – I want to raise awareness that if you find it early it can easily be treated.
“I want to raise at least £2,000.
“I’ve been going on lots of runs, two to three times a week in the gym and then doing long distance at the weekend.
“I was always rubbish at running and PE at school but last weekend I did a 21-mile run.
“This will be my first marathon but I like running as it gives you time to think.”
