The manager of a popular Wellingborough town centre hotel has celebrated 25 years with the company.
Deborah Gear, 53, moved to Wellingborough in July 1989 to become the assistant manager of the Hind Hotel.
Since then, Mrs Gear said she has seen a lot of changes in both Wellingborough and the hotel industry.
She added: “I came to Wellingborough after spending nine years in Skegness at another hotel.
“Wellingborough town centre has changed a great deal in that time, there are far more pubs and nightclubs in town than there used to be.
“Our hotel bar tends to be quieter than it was when I first started, but I think that is because there are a lot more pubs and also because people tend to drink at home a lot more now.”
Mrs Gear said there have been a number of highlights during her time at the Hind, but in recent years she has most enjoyed dealing with couples planning their weddings.
She added: “It’s nice meeting couples when they first come in and then seeing them a year or so later on their big day.”
Mrs Gear is married to husband John, a former Royal Marine who now works as a lorry driver.
She said: “He’s a night-time lorry driver and I often start work at 5.30am, so sometimes we don’t see a lot of one another and spend a lot of time talking on the phone.
“We have three dogs and a cat which keep us busy a lot of the time.”
The couple live in Finedon Road, Wellingborough.
