Man sustains serious injuries in Irthlingborough crash

A 58-year-old man sustained serious injuries following a road traffic collision near Irthlingborough last night.

The man was cycling on the B571, Wellingborough Road, at around 11.10pm on Wednesday night (September 26), when the collision took place.

What is believed to have been a dark coloured Vauxhall was also involved in the collision, but the driver failed to stop at the scene.

It is believed the vehicle would be damaged as a result of the collision, including a possible cracked windscreen, so police are appealing for anyone who believes they have seen this car since late last night to contact them.

They are also appealing for the driver to come forward to assist with the investigation.

The cyclist was taken to Kettering General Hospital with serious injuries.
