Man stabbed in stomach during attempted robbery in Wellingborough

A man was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted robbery in Wellingborough.

The incident happened between 12.30am and 1.30am on Friday, July 10, when the victim, a man in his 30s, was walking from Cross Road along the footpath which runs alongside Oakway Junior School.

As he approached a green gas box, a man jumped out and demanded the mobile phone.

The victim refused and another man appeared.

Following a struggle, the victim was stabbed in the stomach with an unknown implement. He required hospital treatment.

One of the offenders is described as a white man, aged 18 to 30.

He was stocky and was wearing dark trousers and a white/grey hooded top.

The second man was black, aged 18 to 30, stocky and wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
