Man stabbed and has head stamped on in Higham Ferrers

A man was stabbed as he walked home from a shop in Higham Ferrers last night (Wednesday).

The assault happened between 10pm and 10.30pm on the corner of Stimpson Avenue and Newman Street, when the 23-year-old victim was approached from behind by two unknown males.

He was then attacked and suffered a one centimetre stab wound to his right rib cage and superficial cuts to the knuckle area of his right hand.

The victim was then wrestled to the ground before his head was then stamped on, leaving a mark.

The offenders fled without stealing anything or making any further threats.

The attacker with the knife was white, aged 16 to 19 and about 5ft 7in.

He was wearing a black outer jacket and dark joggers.

The second suspect was also white and a similar age and height.

He was wearing dark clothing.
