Man spat in police officer’s face

A DRUNKEN man who spat phlegm and blood from a nosebleed in to the eye of a police officer has avoided being sent to prison.

Shane Linden, 30, of Sutherland Road, Corby, carried out the assault when police attended Cocoon nightclub in Kettering where he had called a member of staff a racist term on November 25 last year.

He pleaded guilty to the assault, to possessing cocaine, to using racist words and to failing to surrender.

Linden was sentenced to a 16-week suspended prison sentence, ordered to abide by a curfew, to pay compensation and to pay £350 court costs at Corby Magistrates Court.
