A 20-year-old man needed hospital treatment after being attacked in Higham Ferrers.

Police are appealing for information about the robbery which took place in the High Street on Wednesday (October 3).

The victim was approached by another man who asked him for a light sometime between 11pm and 11.30pm.

When he said he didn’t have one, he was punched in the face and the offender was then joined by two others - both male - who punched and kicked him to the ground.

A police spokesman said: “The victim’s pockets were searched and a scratchcard was stolen.

“He required hospital treatment for his injuries.”

The first attacker was white, aged about 21, 6ft 2in and of muscular build. He wore a grey Adidas beanie hat and grey hooded tracksuit and had pointed features, with possibly a piercing to the right eye.

The two other offenders were also white, aged about 18, and one was slightly chubbier than the other.
