A man was injured during an attempted armed robbery in Kettering at about 6.40pm last night (Monday, December 1).

The incident happened at Patel Stores, at the corner of Field Street and Dryden Street.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said a man walked into the shop with a knife and threatened a member of staff before demanding cash.

She added: “There was a scuffle and the man was injured.”

A man was found a short time later and is currently receiving treatment at Kettering Hospital.

A similar incident was also reported at the Esso petrol station in nearby Bayes Street at approximately the same time. Police say they cannot firmly say that the two incidents are linked at the moment.
