A man has been pronounced dead after he was hit by a train at Kettering railway station late last night (Thursday).
The 29-year-old man was said to be local and his family has been informed.
Trains leaving and arriving at the station were halted while a British Transport Police investigation was started.
Passengers faced delays of around 90 minutes before trains began running again.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Kettering railway station at 10.23pm on Thursday following reports of a man being hit by a train.
“Colleagues from Northamptonshire Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended but the man, who was aged 29 and from the local area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family have been informed.
“Officers are currently working to formally identity the man and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
