A man has died in hospital after being attacked in a Kettering street on June 1.

Marc Sturgess, 41, of Stamford Road, Kettering, suffered head injuries following an incident in Barnwell Street last month, but police have today confirmed Mr Sturgess died in hospital on Monday (July 15).

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Behan, who is leading the investigation, said: “Firstly, I wish to express my sympathies to Marc Sturgess’s family.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Barnwell Street, Kettering, between 11pm and midnight on June 1, to contact us.

“I would especially like to speak with any taxi drivers who brought passengers to the area at those times.

“I would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident.”

Six men, all from Kettering, were arrested in June on suspicion of serious assault and remain on police bail.
