Man assaulted with metal bar in Rushden

Police have made an arrest after a man was hit with a metal bar during an assault in Rushden.

On Monday, July 29, the victim was walking down Station Road near the splash pool car park, when a man driving past stopped his car and argued with the victim. The man drove off and returned a few minutes later. He confronted the victim again, chasing him and hitting him with a metal bar.

The offender is described as white, with an olive complexion and dark hair, about 5ft 8ins tall and in his mid thirties. He was wearing a red T-shirt and black trousers.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened between 4.35pm and 4.50pm.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released pending further enquiries.
