A man was arrested after an incident at a six-a-side football match in Kettering last night (Wednesday, May 21).

The match was part of a regular six-a-side league which is held at Tresham College in the town.

Eyewitnesses have told the Northants Telegraph seven police officers attended the incident, which was said to have been a foul committed during the course of the match, for which the arrested man was sent off.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police refused to confirm that seven officers went to the scene.

But he added: “Police were called to Tresham College in Windmill Avenue, Kettering, at about 9pm following reports of an assault at a football match.

“A 47-year-old man was arrested but released without charge in the early hours of the morning.”
