A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Kettering.

The pedestrian, a 51-year-old woman, is in hospital in Coventry with head injuries sustained in the incident.

Police have made an appeal for witnesses to the collision in Montagu Street, which happened at about 7.10pm on Wednesday, April 30.

A blue Volvo XC90, driven by a 65-year-old man from Rothwell, hit the woman, who is from Kettering, near the junction with Bath Road.

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Coventry where she is being treated for head and pelvic injuries.

A 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Montagu Street was cordoned off by police near where the incident took place for a couple of hours last night.
