The lead role in a new musical to be staged by a Kettering company has been decided in a special contest at Wicksteed Park.
KOS Musical Theatre Company has been organising the Search for Dorothy to find the lead for the production of the Wizard of Oz.
Lucy Spreckley, a newcomer to the group, will take on the role of Dorothy after being selected at the contest on Sunday, October 20.
The group this week had its first get-together ahead of the performances next spring.
It comes as the hunt for a troupe of youngsters to join Dorothy by playing the Munchkins gets under way.
Children aged nine to 14 have been encouraged to come along for auditions on Saturday, November 16, at the Celebration Suite at Wicksteed Park from 1pm and play their part in what has become a Kettering tradition.
“We do a production in the spring every year,” said Dorothy Webb, secretary of KOS, formerly known as the Kettering Operatic Society.
“We did a production of the Wizard of Oz 10 years ago.
“We thoroughly enjoyed it, and with children performing as Munchkins it has an added interest.”
Anyone wanting to audition to play a Munchkin in the production has been asked to contact Mrs Webb on 01536 513542.
The productions take place between Tuesday, April 29, and Saturday, May 3, next year at the Lighthouse Theatre in Thurston Drive, Kettering.
Performances are at 7.30pm every day, with an additional matinée on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
