Lots of A* and A grades for East Northamptonshire pupils

Pupils from the four schools which make up the East Northamptonshire College are celebrating a top set of A Level results.

Pupils from the Ferrers Specialist Arts College in Higham Ferrers, Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough, Manor School and Sports College in Raunds and Rushden Community College scopped a number of A* and A grades.

Ferrers Specialist Arts College headteacher Jonathan Giles, speaking on behalf of all four schools, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the hard work of students and teachers has been rewarded with such an excellent set of results, with the majority of students achieving first choice places.”

Huxlow student Jordan Busby achieved A*s in chemistry, citizenship and maths and an A in biology. He is going to Imperial College London to study medicine. He said: “I felt very scared this morning. I was very happy when I opened my results, I was happy with three A*s, you can’t really argue with that.

“It was hard work but it was definitely all worthwhile - it’s nice to have stars next to the As.”

Ferrers pupil Rachael Chambers, 18, got an A* in law, As in maths and further maths and Bs in psychology and general studies. She will read law at Birmingham.

She said: “I was really nervous. When I opened by envelope I was so pleased, it was a big relief.”

Rushden Community College student Sara Wright, 18, got an A* in maths, As in further maths and history and a B in English Literature. She will study maths at Leeds University.

She said: “I was really chuffed. We are all going to go out and celebrate.”

Huy Ta, 18, who also goes to Rushden Community College, got A grades in maths, further maths and chemistry, and a B in biology. He is going to study maths at Nottingham University.

He said: “I’m really relieved. I couldn’t really sleep last night.”
