Students from Lodge Park Academy, Corby, will be taking part in their own Olympics, to be attended by London 2012 chairman Lord Sebastian Coe.
They have been busy training for the Summer Cup event which will see 800 pupils from David Ross Education Trust academies competing on Monday (July 1) at South Kesteven athletics track in Grantham.
The Summer Cup was organised by the trust to encourage students to play their part in sport and keep the inspiration of London 2012 alive.
The event will feature an opening ceremony, authentic Olympic torches from the London 1948 and London 2012 Olympics and visits from a number of professional athletes.
Competitions will be held in a variety of sports, including table tennis, hockey, rugby, athletics and swimming.
Lodge Park has held numerous training sessions, as well as organising an authentic torch relay and a motivational visit from Olympic sprinter Christian Malcolm.
Alison Hayes, principal at Lodge Park Academy, said: “Our students have worked hard in the run up to the Summer Cup, and I know that competitive spirit is now at an all time high.
“It has been an incredible experience for them to work with professional athletes, and to compete in front of Lord Coe on Monday will be the pinnacle of an amazing year of sport.
“I have no doubt that all our athletes put on a brilliant performance and I am very much looking forward to watching them compete.”
