An Oundle firm has stepped in to secure the services of a popular town lollipop lady.
Waterland Associates have provided the essential funding to save Oundle Primary School’s lollipop lady, Barbara Buckle.
Northamptonshire County Council withdrew funding for the service three years ago, and despite picking up the total cost for the last two years, Oundle Town Council were unable to continue do so this year without financial assistance.
David Smith, principal architect at Waterland Associates, wanted to do something to help as all three of his children went to Oundle Primary School.
As a result, Waterland Associates have agreed to pay half the cost for the lollipop lady so that, along with Oundle Town Council, they can protect this asset to their community.
Mr Smith said “A lollipop lady is a real symbol of how much a community cares for its children, and we are happy to help the town provide this important service.”
