A team of a dozen litter pickers got their hands dirty this morning in cleaning up a notorious town grot spot.
Members of Wellingborough and Wellingborough Hatton Rotary Clubs filled bags of rubbish as they took part in a community clean-up in Croyland Park in the town.
It is the second time this year the clubs have got together to spruce up the area, which is a popular green space for dog walkers.
Just minutes into their endeavours, the cleaners had already found wood, debris, tins, and even a burned out motorcycle that was dumped in the brook.
Alan Johnstone, president of Wellingborough Rotary Club, said: “Hopefully if people see us tidying up it will encourage them not to drop litter.
“We’ve got to get the community involved in tidying up the area.
“A lot of people use the park because they love the scenery and they don’t want to see rubbish lying around.
“We are lucky we’ve got such a nice open space here.”
The group cleaned up the area of the park between Croyland Road and Kingsway.
A previous litter pick in March saw them fill more than 20 bags of rubbish cleared from the area.
