Lions clubs in Northamptonshire are seeking candidates for the British Isles & Ireland Young Ambassador of the 21st Century Award.

This Lions initiative aims to encourage and support young people wherever they have an involvement; in schools and youth organisations such as scouts and guides, hospitals, churches and police groups, St John Ambulance and the Red Cross.

Candidates will be judged on the extent of their involvement in community service, their personality and leadership qualities, their proposals for the use of a bursary and their ability to speak for up to three minutes about their service activities.

To be eligible, Young Ambassador candidates must have reached their 15th birthday, but not their 19th birthday, on or before June 30, 2015.

The British Isles & Ireland Final will be held in February 2015, where all participants in the final will receive a bursary of £500.

The winner’s award includes a further bursary of £1,000. These bursaries are to be used for the welfare work within the candidates’ projects or for training
