Organisers of the Get to Know Rushden event have announced that more than 60 attractions have been lined up for the 10-day spectacle.
The line-up for the event, which kicks off on Thursday, July 4, has now been confirmed by Rushden Town Council and it includes an array of attractions.
Deputy leader of the council, Cllr Richard Lewis said: “It’s great to be able to put on all these events, and have so many organisations from the town involved.”
The programme has now been put together and a 44-page brochure is being produced for delivery to every house in Rushden.
Cllr Lewis said he hopes the distribution of the brochures will begin next week.
He added: “Every house in Rushden will get a brochure, and each organisation taking part has a half page write-up inside it. Hopefully, this way everybody will know what is going on and can take the chance to come along to one of the events, or try out something new in the taster sessions.”
The event includes attractions such as a Soap Box Derby, at Hall Park on Friday, July 5, and an open afternoon at Rushden fire station on Wednesday, July 10.
Cllr Lewis said the council was also keen for the town’s heritage to be promoted so guided tours have been lined up at D B Shoes, Stanley L Hunt (printers) and shoe manufacturers Alfred Sargent.
A number of sports clubs will also be offering taster sessions, including Kyu Shin Ryu dojo, in Robinson Road, who will offer taster sessions for children on Thursday, July 11, from 4pm to 5pm and 7pm to 8pm.
The dojo’s owner, and karate instructor, Dennis Graves, said the 10-day event was a great idea and hoped people would try out the taster sessions. Anyone interested is asked to call him on 01933 313166.
Some of the events, like the factory tours, require booking. For more details, or to book a place, call the town council on 01933 316216.
