Hundreds of people have already signed up for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise vital funds to help county cancer patients.
Nearly 700 events have been registered for the annual fundraiser by Macmillan Cancer Support, but there is still time to get involved ahead of the event on September 27.
Businesses across Northamptonshire are being urged to help raise a record-breaking £15m this year by letting their staff enjoy coffee and cake for a good cause.
It is hoped their support can make it the biggest so far in the event’s 23-year history.
Each coffee morning raises funds to help those affected by cancer, with statistics showing that every day nine people in the county are told they have cancer and four die from the illness.
This will see the county’s population of people living with cancer more than double between 2010 and 2030, from 22,379 to 49,100.
Macmillan’s county fundraising manager Susan Napoleon said: “We’ve had a good response from local firms so far, but we are hoping even more will get involved.
“The feedback we always get from businesses is that the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a really easy event to organise and it’s great for staff morale.
“Quite a few firms have said they’ve found their support for Macmillan struck a chord with customers as well because so many people know someone who has had cancer.”
She said there have been more than 680 coffee morning registrations in the county already, and more than 7,000 people and businesses are expected to take part.
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer, providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.
