STUDENTS with exceptional talent in football may be eligible for help, thanks to a new scheme.
Next week Tresham College is launching its Elite Athlete Scholarship.
It will reward young men and women with travel, kit, laptops, learning resources and nutrition and expenses to allow them to train and study at the same time.
The students will be able to study any BTEC sports programme at the college as part of its Football Academy programme.
Scholarship trials will be held over two days for applicants to showcase their ability.
The first round of trials will be held at Tresham’s Corby campus, in Oakley Road, and the second stage will be at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium.
To be eligible for the scheme applicants must be 16 or 17 by September 1 this year.
The scholarship scheme, which starts in September, is being officially launched on Tuesday.
The athletes courses will be offered at Corby and at the Windmill campus in Kettering.
