There’s just a few hours left to cast your vote in the 2013 Spirit of Corby Awards.

Voting will close at midday on Wednesday, September 4, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Core theatre on Friday, September 13.

Residents are invited to the awards night to cheer on those who have been nominated and this year tickets are free.

Leader of Corby Council, Cllr Tom Beattie, said: “The Spirit of Corby Awards is always a brilliant evening that highlights the true community spirit that Corby people have, and we’re delighted to able to invite the public along to join the celebrations again this year.

“Whether you put forward a nomination, cast your vote or you just want to come along and support all of those who have been shortlisted, anyone is welcome, just make sure you get your ticket before it’s too late.”

Nominated for the Community Spirit Award, sponsored by Northamptonshire Police, are Paul Balmer, Jolene Callan and Lisa Owen and Nelson Pengelly.

In the Environmental Spirit Award, sponsored by Kier Street Services, the nominees are Kingswood Environmental Champions, Susan Lowe and Rick Allanson.

In the Creative Spirit Award category, sponsored by Quantum Print, the nominees are Stevie Rigsby, Kate Dyer and Paula Boulton.

Nominees in the Club Spirit Award, sponsored by Wots the Big Idea, are Paul Kerfoot, Corby Town Supporters Trust and 422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets

Nominated in the Educational Spirit Award, sponsored by Tresham College, are Alex Franklin, Annie Morgan and Donna Ahearn.

The Jimmy Kane Young Spirit of Corby Award is sponsored by BeLa Partnership and the nominees in this category are Ross Dykes, Jake Murphy and

Martin Brown.

An overall Spirit of Corby Award winner will be chosen from the winners of the other categories.

People with tickets will be seated in the balcony area of the theatre and will be asked to arrive from 7.30pm.
