Thieves escaped with a large amount of jewellery after breaking into a house in Corby.

The property in Cottingham Road was broken into sometime between midnight and midday on Monday, May 25.

A rear ground floor window had been smashed to get into the house.

A police spokesman said: “Among items of jewellery which were stolen was a gold watch with an inscription marking 25 years service with British Steel and a pocket watch with a picture of a trout on the face.

“Other items included six ladies’ watches, three more men’s watches, a silver St Christopher chain and a number of rings, earrings and chains.”
