Classical singer Vicki-Louise Sherwin has been so inspired by the courage of patients at Lakelands Hospice in Corby, she has decided to hold a fundraising concert to support its work.
The 13-year-old, who attends Brooke Weston Academy, Corby, has booked the venue, signed up the entertainers and is promoting the event at the Rockingham Forest Best Western Hotel on Sunday, October 26, at 2pm.
The afternoon of entertainment will include performances by Vicki-Louise, who lives on the Oakley Vale estate, Charlie Botting, 14, Findlay O’Connor and Emma Mellon and The Contenders.
Vicki-Louise said: “I have been going up to Lakelands Hospice to sing for the patients for sometime now.
“During my time singing at Lakelands I have been inspired by the courage of the patients and the wonderful support of the staff and volunteers who work there.
“Lakelands offers a much-needed, vital service to many people and as they receive no government funding, they rely on the people of Corby to help to keep their doors open.”
Vicki-Louise’s grandmother Margaret Harvey, who died of cancer six years ago, was a volunteer at the hospice and helped design its gardens.
Tickets for the fundraiser are £4.50 and they are available at the hotel, Lakelands Hospice in Butland Road and by emailing email@example.com.
Vicki-Louise thanked Corby businesses which have donated raffle prizes and Brooke Weston Academy which is to make a donation of £200.
