With thousands of votes having been cast and after dozens of entries, Kurtis Bell can today be revealed as the winner of the Northants Telegraph’s Super Tots 2012 competition.
Kurtis, aged 23 months, picked up the most votes from readers who were won over by his cheeky smile.
His parents, Rebecca Marlow and Jonathan Bell, who live in Desborough, said they were delighted to discover Kurtis had triumphed ahead of a host of other bonny and beaming bairns from across our region.
The family has won a beautiful framed portrait of Kurtis as well as a break at Pontin’s holiday park.
Jonathan said: “I entered the contest on a bit of a spur of the moment.
“I was just walking past the display in town and so I decided to enter.
“Kurtis is really photogenic though, so it made sense. We’re not sure who he gets that from!”
Proud mum Rebecca said: “We’ve got quite a big family and a lot of friends, so as soon as it went in the paper we put messages on Facebook and things like that to get everyone to vote.”
She added: “Kurtis loved being in the paper. When we showed him the photo he shouted ‘It’s me.’”
His parents said Kurtis, who will celebrate his second birthday in February, most enjoys playing with his brother and sisters Owen Darbon, 10, Lydia Darbon, seven, and two-year-old Lily Houghton.
He also loves watching the cartoon film Shark Tale – which his parents say has started to wear out the television – and playing with his wrestling figurines.
Rebecca and Jonathan added: “We’re looking forward to the holiday, although we both work together, so we don’t know when we’re going to get time off.”
Kurtis also won the 19 to 35-months category.
Harley from Wellingborough topped the category for babies up to nine-months-old, Junior from Corby triumphed in the 10 to 18-months category, and Lainey, also from Corby, emerged as the winner in the three to five-year-old category.
