Police are hunting a handbag snatcher who has targeted seven different women in Kettering.

There have been seven incidents since the beginning of December, with five since the New Year.

In each of the incidents women have been approached by a man who has taken their handbag and fled the scene, without causing any injuries.

In three of the incidents the women have seen what they believed to be a knife.

The majority of the incidents have taken place in the St Andrews ward, with two near the train station.

All of the incidents have taken place in the evening, once it has got dark.

Officers believe the same offender is responsible for all seven incidents.

The offender is described as a white man in his late teens to early twenties, around 5ft 7in tall and of slim build.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, may have any information about them or who may have had their handbag snatched in the last couple of months and have not reported it to police.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
