Hundreds of children in Corby will be taking part in the Tata Kids of Steel triathlon today.
About 8,000 children are expected to take part in this year’s series of events across the UK.
Youngsters from eight to 13 will swim 40 to 60 metres at Corby pool, cycle 800 to 1,200 metres and finish with a 400-metre run.
Myra Rooselaar, who heads up Tata Steel’s corporate responsibility, said: “Seeing children complete a mini- triathlon is incredibly rewarding and inspirational, both for the kids and for our many employee volunteers, who support the events.”
All the equipment is provided, including bikes and helmets, and every child who takes part receives a medal in recognition of their achievement. They will also receive a T-shirt, swimming cap and gym sack.
