A trainee biomedical scientist from Kettering has taken a huge step towards being part of Miss England after she was named Miss Social Media Coventry.

Former Kettering Carnival Queen Emily Bunce, who grew up in the town but now lives in Coventry after she moved there to study, scooped a place in the quarter finals of Miss England, which are taking place on May 29 in Leicester.

Emily took part in Miss Coventry last month and was named Miss Social Media Coventry, which gave her an opportunity to take part in the quarter finals.

She said: “Since I was named carnival queen I focused on my studies as this is something that has always been important to me.

“Now university is over I wanted to be back representing where I’m from and hopefully show people that just because you dreamed of something years ago doesn’t mean it can’t happen today.

“I’m finally doing mine after all this time.

“I finally have the confidence to put myself out there to hopefully represent not only my town, but my country.”

Emily has been busy fundraising for a number of charities since she was named Miss Social Media Coventry, including for Fisher House at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, a home for families of injured servicemen and women who are undergoing treatment.

She has also been supporting Beauty With A Purpose, an international children’s charity and raised £1,000 for a hospital cancer unit by abseiling down a shopping centre.
