A huge site in Kettering has been flattened to make way for a new police hub to serve the north of the county.

The site on Kettering Business Park at the side of the A6003 has been cleared and flattened and builders Bowmer and Kirkland are on site ready to begin construction.

It is hoped the new Police Investigation Centre and Northern Accommodation Building will be completed by spring 2017,

A new 20-cell building will replace cells at Corby and Kettering Police Stations which are no longer fit for purpose.

It is also expected to provide work space for approximately 350 staff including some of those who will have to move from the existing police headquarters at Wootton Hall in Northampton, which is due to close.
