Northamptonshire Association for the Blind (NAB) says it was pleased by the response to a free drop-in advice event held at the Kettering Sight Centre last week.

The focus day, which took place on Friday, February 21, and which saw more than 30 people attend, allowed people to find out about services and support offered by NAB.

Visitors also had the opportunity to try out some of the latest magnification equipment and accessible mobile phones and tablets specifically designed for people with visual impairments.

Stefanie Weldon, marketing manager for NAB, said: “We were really pleased with the amount of visitors that came to our event and showed interest in not only our services but finding out about new technology which can help them.

“I was really busy demonstrating new software from a company called Synapptic, who can make the latest android mobile phones and tablets accessible for the visually impaired, through magnification and speech.”

She added that anyone unable to attend the focus day can drop in to the Sight Centre, in the Wadcroft, just off Kettering’s High Street, during opening hours, which are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 1pm.
