A restaurant in Kettering is holding a fundraising evening for victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Everest Dine, in Montagu Street, is holding the candle-lighting ceremony and fundraising evening on Tuesday, May 19, from 6.30pm.

A spokesman for the Indian and Nepalese restaurant group, which also has an outlet in Leicester, said “We hope to help raise much-needed funds for the people of Nepal.

“This is an informal event where we will hope to raise further funds through an auction and by selling raffle tickets.”

Tickets for the evening are £25 with all proceeds going to the Nepalese Disaster NRN Fund through the Nepalese Embassy in London and another charity

Some of the group’s members will be travelling to Nepal to work voluntarily as well.

The spokesman added: “This is a humanitarian disaster on an unimaginable scale where the urgent need for food, drinking water, shelter and medical supplies has already gone beyond the point of desperation.

“The majestic country of Nepal and its beautiful people need our help.
