A Kettering pub will provide a free Christmas meal to members of a charity whose festive feast fund was stolen this week.

Thieves broke into mental health charity Mind’s Russell Street headquarters overnight between Tuesday, December 9, and Wednesday, December 10.

They caused thousands of pounds worth of damage and also made off with £450 set aside for users of the charity to have a Christmas dinner.

But after reading of the break-in, staff at The Wayfarers in London Road decided they would step in.

Landlady Tracy Slade said: “We saw the Northants Telegraph Facebook page and I thought it was absolutely disgusting to steal from a charity.

“It’s a Kettering charity we think a lot of and we wanted to help.”

Kettering butchers MA Coales are providing the turkey for the Christmas dinner, with Booker in Kettering and Pauleys in Corby supplying the vegetables.

And there will also be entertainment provided by Damian Cox of Big Bopper Entertainment.
