An online appeal for the public to help fund new play equipment for youngsters at a Kettering park has entered its final week.

The Friends of Rockingham Road Pleasure Park (FORRPP) are hoping to raise thousands of pounds to fund a new infants’ playground.

Chairman of FORRPP David Meagher told the Telegraph the playground had received strong support from parents and other local residents, but said more needed to be raised in order to fund it and an outdoor classroom.

He said: “We are looking to raise £16,000 in total and we have got nearly £9,000.

“The children from Park Infant School have had a big say in the design. Some of the school council put a video together about what they want to do.

“We have got lots of facilities for the big kids but very little for the younger ones.”
