A Kettering woman who was told she needed to lose weight so she could have an operation on her back is hoping her story will inspire others.

Mum-of-two Cristina Willis, from Charles Street, was told by doctors in October last year she would need an operation to stop her back deteriorating – but would need to lose weight first.

She said: “I couldn’t believe what I was being told.

“I have two children, Charlie, three, and Mia, five, and the thought that I wasn’t going to be able to be the lively, active mummy I wanted to be was too much to bear.

“I was a mess but thankfully one of my colleagues found me and suggested I give Slimming World a go.”

Cristina said by cutting out comfort eating she was able to lose three and-a-half stone in a matter of months.

Doctors have now told Cristina that because of her weight loss, she may not need an operation for 10 years.

She added: “I feel great and have so much more energy than I did before.

“The leader of the group then came to me and said my story could help inspire others to lose weight.”

Cristina is now launching a Slimming World group which will meet at Prospect House, Lower Street, Kettering, on Monday mornings from 9.30am.
