MP for Kettering Philip Hollobone has invited actress Lindsay Lohan to turn on the town’s Christmas lights after her EU referendum outburst.

The American star, who supported the Remain campaign, took to Twitter to slam the town after it overwhelmingly voted for Brexit.

The tweet, which was later deleted, read: #REMAIN Sorry, but #KETTERING where are you & why is this woman @BBCNews speaking on people rather than TELLING us what happens if the UK LEAVES?”

But today (Thursday, June 30) Mr Hollobone told the House of Commons she was incorrect as “everyone knows where Kettering is”.

He then demanded she visit the town to turn on the Christmas lights to “redeem her political reputation” after the bizarre outburst.

Conservative MP Mr Hollobone, a prominent and long-standing Leave campaigner, said he was proud of the role the town played in achieving a Brexit after 61 per cent voted to leave last week.
