A Kettering man has been charged with attempting to rob a woman of her handbag after she had just withdrawn money from a cash machine.

Ross Kelly, 29, of Charles Street, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 26, and was remanded into custody to appear at Northampton Crown Court next year.

On Friday, November 25, a 60-year-old woman who had withdrawn money from a cash machine and was walking along The Headlands was allegedly approached by a man who attempted to take her handbag.

Two members of the public are believed to have intervened assisting in detaining a man.
