Kettering group aims to pick a tonne of litter for charity

Seeitpickitbinit is launching its 2017 charity event this week, aiming to remove and recycle a tonne of dumped litter from Kettering’s roads, parks and green spaces.

The event will consist of more than 30 picks around the town between now and June.

This year the group is aiming to raise £1,000 for Northamptonshire Animals Needing Nurturing and Adoption (Nanna) in Irthlingborough.

The first litter pick at the weekend collected 75kg, bringing their current total to 108kg.

The group will be returning today to the A43 Corby Link Road to pick up more litter.

Due to a dramatic increase in its intake of homeless animals, the charity is struggling to pay its ever-increasing food and vet bills.

The organisers of the event said: “We have set up a crowdfunding page for Nanna, on the JustGiving website, so that local residents can show their appreciation and support for the amazing work that they do every day.

“Even if you can’t afford a donation, you can contribute by sharing the link on social media, helping to clean up your town and protecting the wildlife that calls it home.”

Nanna is a voluntary charity, none of whose staff are paid, so all funds go towards the hedgehogs, kittens, puppies and numerous other animals which it helps to protect.
