Almost £2,000 has been raised via a community initiative to help a family whose home was gutted by fire.
Mum-of-three Chantelle Peterson, whose home in Copperfield Close, Kettering, was hit by the blaze last month, says she has been overwhelmed by the support of friends and strangers alike.
Chantelle and children Loren, Charlie and Mollie, were handed the funds and other items at an event at the Beeswing pub last Thursday.
Chantelle said the gestures were vital for her family because the insurance company had taken 10 days just to send through an interim payment to her.
She added: “I just can’t put into words what people have done. It’s so overwhelming. There are so many people to thank, I can’t name them all. It seems to me like a never-ending stream of people helping.”
Mollie, whose birthday was just after the fire, had a gift parcel from her favourite football club, Tottenham Hotspur, including a letter from manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Locally, support came from Morrisons, Dreams, Kettering McQueen and others.
Organiser Chaz Lewis said: “The event was very successful and the support was amazing.”
